"Thoughts, desires and relationships depicted through a constant creation of monsters and creatures. Though this drawing process I hope to capture the energy and feelings of the moment."
I developed large stick and ink drawings during my fine art degree at Cumbria College of Art & Design. Since graduating in 2000 I've been using the same sticks to continue to explore and refine my drawing process.
My large drawings are often concerned with personal reflections & character portraits often referencing mythological archetypes.
A life-long love of textiles and print has led me to occasionally combine free-machine embroidery onto my paper drawings and also to translate some of my drawings into screen print.
I love living and working in Yorkshire. All year round there is something beautiful to see, a footpath to discover, a new character to meet. Very inspiring for my creative work.
In 2005 I gained a PGCE and have experience working as an art & design tutor in post compulsory education.
